| Note: you may have to right-click and select 'Save Target As..." to force your browser to save the file to disk instead of
trying to display it. If your security settings prevent downloading the
installation executable file, you can try downloading this .zip archive,
dcdt+_install_exe.zip instead, which
just packages that executable file. |
| This new version requires the Microsoft .NET framework version 3.5. That software component is usually already
present on computers running Windows 10, but it may need to be activated (see
below). For Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8
you will likely need to install .NET
framework 3.5. If so, the program installer should detect this and try to
open a Microsoft web page from which you can download and install it before
the installation continues, but it may give an error message instead. If so,
there is a local copy of the .NET 3.5 installation package
here. |
| How to activate .NET 3.5 in Windows 10: Open Settings and click
on 'Apps'. On the right side click on 'Programs and features' under the
'Related settings' heading (you may need to maximize the Settings window in
order to see this item). This will bring up a new Control Panel window with
a list of installed programs. On the left side of that list click on the
'Turn Windows features on or off' item. This will bring up yet another
dialog box with a list of optional Windows features. Near the top of that
list is the '.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) item. If needed,
check the check box for that item, and then click 'OK'. Your computer may then
need to download additional files from the Microsoft web site to activate
.NET 3.5 (it will do this automatically if needed). |
| How to activate .NET 3.5 in Windows 11: Open Settings and click
on 'Apps'. In the middle of the list click on 'Optional Features'. Then
scroll down until you see 'Related settings' and then click on 'More Windows
features'. This will bring up a new dialog box with a list of optional Windows features. Near the top of that list
is the '.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) item. If the box to the
left of the folder icon on that line of the list is empty (white) then check that
empty box (which will then turn a solid color), and then click 'OK'. Your computer may then
need to download additional files from the Microsoft web site to activate
.NET 3.5 (it will do this automatically if needed). |

dated 04/21/2020 (5.7 MB)
| After downloading, just run this self-extracting archive to expand the
files and start the installation program |
| During installation you may get warning messages that the installer
is trying to install support libraries that are older than ones with the same
name already installed on your computer. This is not a problem. Simply
accept the default behavior to keep the newer version. Similarly, if you see
messages about "access violation" or "registration" errors, simply push the
'Ignore' button and let the installer proceed. |
SEDNTERP-related files:
SEDNTERP version 3.0.4 installation file
(program dated 06/05/2022 (10,014,720 bytes, MD5 checksum =
6D1C4F302CE31A3E40DC0686CBC12D6A). This version
will run under Windows 11 (or older versions of Windows back to Windows
Vista). The start-up database file, sednterp3.db, will be installed along
with the program, but if you need another copy (for example, to put a copy into
a shared folder so everyone in the lab can share a single database) it can be downloaded as a .zip archive via
this link (44,782 bytes, MD5 checksum =
977C46E811FA6C6EB06D16FDC5FF1416).
The
beta version of SEDNTERP 2 is no longer downloadable from the Biomolecular Interaction
Technologies Center (BITC) website at the University of New Hampshire, but you
can download a copy from this web site here
SEDNTERP version 3 installation notes:
| This SEDNTERP version requires prior installation of version 4.0 (or higher)
of the Microsoft .NET framework, which in turn means it will not run under
Windows XP. Version 4.x of the .NET framework will always be present under
Windows 8, 10, or 11, but might not be installed for Windows 7 or Vista. If
the needed version of .NET is not present when you run the SEDNTERP 3 installer,
it should try to download and install it from the Microsoft website. |
| This version uses a new database structure, but it can import databases
created either by versions 1.00-1.09 or UNH SEDNTERP version 2. |
| Although by default SEDNTERP will be installed for all users on a computer,
each user will have their own database and set of defaults (preferences).
|
| In order for multiple users to share the same database, put a copy of the
database file (sednterp3.db) into a shared folder (which can be a network
folder), and then open that file after the program
starts and say 'yes' when it asks whether to set that shared file as the
default database. |
| Starting with version 3.03, for new installations the database file will
be placed into the program folder (because that is the only location that
works for all computer configurations). Unfortunately that location may mean
that the database file (which contains the information you add about your
samples, buffers, and experiments) might not be backed up by your backup
software. Therefore when the program runs the first time you will be
asked whether you wish to move the database to some location where it will
definitely be backed up (and for which you have read/write file access
privileges), such as your Documents folder. |
| You will need Administrator privileges to install SEDNTERP. |
The SEDNTERP version 1 source code is also now available on the RASMB software
depot (link
here), and the version 3 source code will be available there in the near
future. The source code may be freely modified, used, and distributed under the terms of
the GNU General Public
License version 3.
